Monthly Affiliate Newsletters - February 25, 2009

Dear Valued Partners,

We hope you having a stellar sales month so far. On our end, we are seeing more and more affiliates taking advantage of the information and tools they receive from us to generate more income each month.

After much discussion, the President’s economic stimulus package was finally approved earlier this month. We are all optimistic to see what positive economic changes it will bring, especially to small businesses and individuals on main street. However, we are happy to say that we are already seeing a consumer that has been saving for the last few months, and is now more eager to look at spending their money.

As affiliates, this is the best time to take advantage of this momentum. If you take the time and effort to get your marketing streams ready and producing now, you are sure to reap the rewards in the months to come.

Contrary to popular belief, people do have money and it is our job to motivate them to spend it on our books/products, and at the same time help themselves get rid of their specific problems. So, make sure that you are doing everything in your power to attract their attention, and you will see how your efforts will pay off big dividends.

In January’s article, we began discussing the two most important factors of Search Engine Optimization to generate high rankings. These are:

1) On-Page Factors

2) Off-Page Factors

Today we are going to discuss in detail how to get the first one, On-Page Factors, right.

Five Important On-Page Factors:

1) Page Title
2) Page Description
3) H1, H2, H3 Tags
4) Outgoing Links
5) Keyword Density

If someone asks me: "If I get these above factors right, can I get into the first page of the search results?" My answer would be Yes and No.

It would also depend on the level of competition for the keywords you are targeting. If the keywords are not very competitive; then yes, just by getting these things right you can climb to the first page of the search results.

Whereas, if the competition is high for a particular keyword phrase, then you will also have to get the off-page factors right. And, if the competition is very high, sometimes even by changing the order of the words in the title tag can lift up your rankings.

Page Title

Of all the above factors, "Page Title" is the most important. Therefore, always pay maximum attention to get it right. Your page title should be precise and should be enough to clearly describe what the page is all about.

The shorter the title, the more importance each word in it will carry. Therefore, choose each and every word of the title very carefully.

All search engines include page titles in their search results. Always include your main keyword in the title.

Page Description

Page description gives more elaborate information about the page than the Title. This includes your unique selling proposition along with the targeted keywords will tell the search engine how precise and to the point the page is, and an accurate page always gets better rankings.

H1, H2, H3 Tags

H1, H2, H3 tags are important because they generally form the headings inside a page. When a visitor visits a page, the very first thing he does is he tries to determine whether the page delivers what he is looking for.

Therefore, he quickly scans all the headings on the page. This is the reason why search engines give so much importance to it. So decide on your page headings and sub headings carefully.

Outgoing Links

Outgoing links is another important factor. Search engines do not like to confine a reader; they want to give him full freedom of moving from one source to another.

This purpose is very well accomplished by providing outgoing links to various high-quality related sources. This is why if the page does not have outgoing links, the search engines do not like them.

Keyword Density

Keyword density is a way of determining whether the full page is dedicated to the given keyword or not. Do not overdo this factor, or your page will look unprofessional. It is worth mentioning that though on-page factors are important, they do not have more than 25 percent of impact in the rankings. The remaining 75 percent of the impact comes from off-page factors.

So again, if you are going after keywords with low competition, then you should be able to win high rankings by doing your off-page factors correctly. In the case of highly competitive keywords, you will have to work much harder and make sure both on-page and off-page factors are done properly.

If I Can Do It, You Can Do It!

Make sure you use your time wisely based on the amount of competition each keyword phrase provides. No matter what, your main goal is to attact someone’s attention and guide them into taking the appropriate action, which in our case is sending them to learn more about our books/products so they can purchase.

Remember, the time to get these factors properly implemented is NOW. Get yourself ready and begin today!

In my next article we will talk extensively about the off-page factors and how to get them to perform better for you. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at amit@universalmarketingmedia.com.
