Dear Valued Partners,
Happy New Year! Are you as happy that 2009 is here as I am? We here at UMM are receiving this year with great hopes and expectations, and so should you!
We know that the new President will bring many changes to stimulate the worldwide economy, and these changes should generate optimism and a renewed consumer that will be ready to spend. If you want to be in a position to generate some extra or steady income this year, right now is the time to act!
As an affiliate, we all know the importance of Search Engine Optimization. There is nothing like lots of FREE traffic. And with right approach on SEO you can get your website ranked on the first few pages of search results. So, what is the right approach?
Let’s start from there: All search engines have a task of satisfying their human visitors because without them no search engine can exist. Their visitors want relevant results, the more relevant the results, the more popular the search engine will be.
When Google was in its initial stages, there were Yahoo and other search engines, which were already established. But within a few years Google became number one, leaving behind other search engines. The main reasons of Google’s success are relevance and faster search results.
This concludes that no search engine can afford to compromise on relevance. For us this makes sense because the more relevant our page to a keyword, the higher our page will rank. So our major focus should be to satisfy a human visitor along with the search engine spiders.
For those who are new, Search Engine Spiders are software that read and analyze websites on the Internet, and then use this information to deliver rankings. Since Search Engine Spiders are software, they do not have the capability of a human eye and, therefore, they depend on certain factors of a web page to determine its relevance. These factors are:
1) On-page Factors: Factors which are on their web pages themselves like Title of the Page, Description, H1 tags, etc.
2) Off-page Factors: External back links to a page come under this category.
As we discussed earlier, these spiders depend on certain factors of a web page. Manipulating these factors is the main focus of many Search Engine Optimizers. They will keep on studying even the slightest change in the search engine algorithm, wherein making the biggest mistake of ignoring human visitors.
Ignoring human visitors is the reason why the web pages of these optimizers disappear from the search results at all. Every search engine should work on making their spiders think like human beings and try to achieve what their human visitors want.
Sometimes people find a loophole in the search engine algorithm and they start manipulating it. Suddenly from nowhere their site may jump to number one position and as soon as the search engines realize it, these people are out of the search results. This is also called “Black Hat Techniques.”
These types of things are short lived and will not work in the long run. This is the reason I prefer to keep my focus on the human visitors first; and then, on the search engine spiders.
How can you accomplish this goal? Well, by simply focusing on providing relevant content on your website that is directly related to the keywords you are trying to target. Take one keyword phrase at a time and type up a 500-1000 word article, blog, or comment on the topic.
Tie in this important and unique content together with whatever product or service you are trying to sell and you will get results. In my next article I’ll talk about “On-page and Off-page Factors,” so keep visiting this section often to find it.
